Nanny Essentials Training by NTI
Both Nanny Essentials Training courses are designed to enhance nannies
knowledge of child development and skill in child to enrich the environment
of the children they care for.
Nanny Essentials I: Child Development, Effective Communication & Relationships
Topics covered in this 8-hour training include:- Professionalism & Child Advocacy
- Child Development-Birth to 5 years
- Age-Specific Issues (e.g., fussiness in babies, toilet training)
- Activity Ideas by Age
- Appropriate Discipline Techniques
- Appropriate rest periods and safe sleep
- Positive Communication Between Nanny and Employer
- Materials: all participants will receive the Nanny Essentials Kit
- Optional: Course Exam
Nanny Essentials II: Safe & Healthy Environments
The first day covers the topics described above in Nanny Essentials I, and nannies will receive the Nanny Essentials Kit. The second day covers the following:- Good Nutrition for Children
- Safe environments at home
- Safe environments on the road
- Basic First Aid training and certification
- Handling emergency situations
- CPR training and certification
Upon completion of Nanny Essentials Training I, participants may opt to take an in-class exam, or schedule to take it by appointment within two weeks of the course. NTI will score the exam and award a certificate to participants for a passing grade. Learn more about the exam.
